Many Acts related to Agricultural and its activities like production, marketing, land conservation and holdings, imports/exports etc. were passed during English Period and thereafter in Independent India from time to time. Many amendments and repealing of Acts also did take place, as and when need arised. There was a great need that all the Acts passed by Central and State Governments related to agriculture be available at one place in the shape of book/encyclopaedia, but it was not available. The present encyclopaedia contains the Central Acts are listed in Volume 1 to 4 in a chronological order year-wise with further classification that Acts and related amended Act/rules/regulations/order/policy are listed simultaneously. The Acts passed by State Governments are listed in Volume numbers 5 to 10 with States mentioned in alphabetical order in each volume.
The present Encyclopedia will be very useful for libraries in ICAR’s National Institutes and other Institutes/ Bureaus/ Research Centres/ Directorates/ Coordinating Units and Agricultural Universities and other Universities/Organizations, where work related to various aspects of agriculture like crops, plantation crops, horticultural crops, animals, fish, agriculture and market policies etc. is done. As regards class of persons, to whom this may be useful are research scholars/students, scientists, teachers, officials in agricultural departments of Centre and States, policy makers, persons associated with farmers’ organizations/unions and NGO’s etc.
