In the present book “Freshwater Algae of Eastern India” presents comprehensive account of alage of Eastern and North eastern region which showed occurrence of several taxa which were first records from this region as well as of India. Details of these algal species with descriptions, microphotograph of each taxa, mode of occurrence, type of the habitat and location are provided in this book which would serve as a handbook on identification, taxonomy and biodiversity analysis of algae. Since microalgae are now used as candidates for biofuel/biodiesel production, biocolourants, nutraceuticals, novel food and feed and also as research materials for genomic and metabolomics of phototrophic organisms.
The information provided in this book would help the researchers and students in universities and research institutions to understand the diversity of alagae of India and their use for bioprospecting.
