It is anticipated that this publication will deliver basic information on the inland fish diversity of south India and offer better inputs for scientific management and utilization of the resources on sustainable manner.'

H.S. Mogalekar is Ph.D. Research Scholar working on fish diversity and productivity of selected reservoirs of south Tamil Nadu in Department of Fisheries Biology and Resource Management, Fisheries College and Research Institute, Tamil Nadu Fisheries University, Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, India. He received B.F.Sc. from College of Fishery Science, Maharashtra Animal and Fisheries Science University, Nagpur. Maharashtra and M.F.Sc. from Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies, Panangad, Kochi, Kerala, India. He has published 13 research and review papers in the field of freshwater and estuarine fish diversity. J.
